RETRO RED

Do you have a favourite craft tool?

One of my all-time best buys has to be a circular punch - not very fancy so likely to get overlooked!
It's not only useful for 'finger-holes' on box lids - I like to use it… or just part of it for decorative purposes as in the following two card samples.

This black, white and red card uses the punched out pieces for added interest… and I love to offset these Retro flowers when layering to give a funkier look. Buy punch online Retro Punch.

Faux stitch embossing has been added using our IMP scoring board which is ideal if you use
a lot of US 11" x 8½" or Scrapbooking size paper and cardstock.

THE THINKER

Another little 'thing' that we 'inherited' along with the lovely rose bush featured previously
is this little fellow - TOM!

He's a tiny Tom with a big character and is formally of no fixed abode but seems to live
on our front door step. He's a real charmer - except when he catches his lunch
from the field and dines on our lawn! Guess this is country life and we have to get used to it.
Not sure Tom would approve of the ribbons on the card - does nothing for his 'field-cred'!

WATERCOLOUR FRIENDSHIP CARD

What a simple yet pretty and effective friendship card!

And I'm the lucky person that received it from my lovely friend and talented designer, Kassy Spires.
I thought it was too good to put away and asked Kassy if I could share it with you...
so here you are!

Quickly create a square-shaped card without measuring by scoring and half-folding a piece of A4 cardstock. Then place the short bottom edge of the card to the base bar of the M&F board and lightly mark groove 6 on fold edge and long opening edge. Slice off the excess strip between the marks.

Punch holes in card front approx 2½cms (1") from fold edge.
Thread ribbon in through top front hole and bring it out to the front again through the bottom hole. Take the ribbon end back through top hole again and out to the front again through the bottom hole. Trim ends.

Colour a solid stamp of your choice with felt pens.
Lightly spritz the stamp with water to achieve a lovely watercolour effect.
Stamp image onto spare cardstock.
Over stamp image with sentiment or script.
Laminate the image if you wish as Kassy has done.
Run a gold Krylon pen around the edges. Adhere to card.

ZIG-ZAG PYRIMAGE ROSE

Download the picture by clicking on it.

This beautiful rose was planted by the previous owners of our home in Wales
and has been a joy to watch unfold. You are welcome to download this photograph.
Whilst relinquishing copyright ownership, I hope that you will respectfully use it
for your individual projects only and not for commercial purposes.

Use your favourite photograph or image to create the most personal of cards.

This card shape takes a full sheet of A4 cardstock.

Score and Zig-zag-fold the A4 using groove 4 of the M&F Scoreboard.
Open out the card and align bottom right corner and front of card score line along groove 6
and lightly score (as shown in picture).

Cut off the top triangle along the scored line.
Zig-Zag fold the card with smallest section at the front.
Stamp up verse on inside panel.
Add border peel offs to card edges.
Pyrimage your image and matt and layer on to co-ordinating cardstock.
Adhere to centre section.
Stamp up and layer front sentiment.
Decorate and adhere below the pyrimage so that it holds the short front section of the card in place.
Add tiny matted photo to bottom right of card.

BOX to fit BOOKATRIX

Recently we have noticed enquiries on craft forums regarding suitable box sizes for Bookatrix cards.
As our award-winning M&F board is recommended by The Glitter Girls of Keepsake Card Craft for use with their embossing boards and features on their DVDs we feel qualified to help answer this query.

The size of Bookatrix cards will obviously vary depending how much shaping is applied to the pages.
In general, when using the largest page, a box made from full A4 sheets of cardstock will give a
good fit.

LID: Score all four edges of a piece of A4 cardstock using groove 1 on M&F or IMP scoringboard.
Punch fingerholes on both long edges. Cut and construct the corners (there is a diagram on the instructions if you're not sure how to do this!)
TRAY: Cut off 2mm (1/8") from one long edge and one short edge of another piece of A4 then score
all four edges using groove 1 and construct corners.
DONE!

For cards using the smaller pages, the general instructions supplied with the M&F board will assist
when assessing cardstock size for the box. To calculate the size for box cardstock, add 6cms (2½")
to the width and length of your card. Remember to cut off 2mm (1/8") from one long edge and one short edge of the piece the piece that is to form the tray then score and construct as above.

TIP: - if you want an acteate lid to fit INSIDE the box tray then you must treat the acetate as the 'tray' - so make the acetate the smallest piece in order for it to fit INSIDE - (so cut off 2mm (1/8") from one long edge and one short edge of the acetate.)

GRID AND WINDOW CARD

This card looks like it might take ages because of all the embossing and elements
but it really is quick and simple… this is what our M&F Scoreboard is all about
… making crafting easy and saving you money to spend on more stash!

Coppernob's M&F Motto: Less time measuring = More time creating

You will need:

A piece A4 double-sided cardstock - I used lemon pearlised from Kanban
Narrow Double-Sided Adhesive Tape
Citrus glitter
Retro Flower punches (my favourites!)
Pretty papers and beads
Adhesive
Favourite photo of mom (82) and dog (17) - folks are built to last in our family!

Instructions:
1. Half-fold the piece of A4 with or without a 'lead-in' edge.
(If you examine a shop bought card you will note the front and back edges do not meet.
The back is approx 1-2mm shorter than the front to enable easier opening.
When designing our M&F board we aimed to provide card crafters with a precise tool to attain the most professional of finishes. Simply scoring and folding will create a 'lead in edge'.
If you prefer your card edges to meet, score in half then bend the card and place both edges
to the Bar. Hold card edges firmly together and flatten fold edge with Crease Mouse.)

2. To make the square shape - place a short edge of the folded card to the Bar
and lightly mark groove 6 at top and bottom of long edges.

3. Line up the marks on a cutter and slice off the excess.

4. Place fold edge of card to Bar, open the card and score groove2. Rotate the card to place other three edges to the Bar in turn and score groove 2 each time. You should now have your grid.

5. Place each edge of the card along groove 5 and score groove 4 to produce decorative embossed edge around card.

TIP: If you are left-handed you may find it easier to turn the board around and work with the Bar
on your Right.

Our M&F Board can be used just as easily by left-handed crafters-
there's no mystery!

6. Cut the diagonal across the centre section using a craft knife. Bend triangle sections to create 'window' shutters.

7. Apply narrow double-sided adhesive tape around edge of card and sprinkle with glitter.

8. Decorate sections as you wish.

Adhere photo or stamp a sentiment to show through the 'window' aperture.

ORIENTAL FAN BOX

Sample shown has been made using the M&F Scoreboard.

You will need a piece of Lavender and a piece of Black cardstock each 8¼"x 8¼".
(TIP: To quickly measure 8¼" square, simply line up a short edge of a piece of A4
along the long edge of the other piece of A4 and mark across the bottom of the top sheet.
Cut off the excess.)

For the lid:

Score all four edges using groove 1.
Punch finger holes.
Emboss Bamboo design onto half the lid - using the Eastern Promise Board.
Cut and construct corners of lid as per M&F or IMP board instructions.
Stamp Bamboo onto a piece of White cardstock. Drag edge of inkpad around edges
of panel. Add peel off symbol.
Matt stamped panel onto a piece of Black cardstock, leaving a narrow border showing.
Adhere to other half of lid.
Emboss two fans from Eastern Promise Board and cut around. Lightly tap the fan with
Brilliance Twilight inkpad so the embossing catches the colour.
Cut two short lengths of cocktail stick and colour black using permanent marker pen.
Adhere to back of fans using silicon. When dry adhere fans to lid. Add tiny black bows
and lashings of glitter glue and tiny beads.
Finish lid with large dragonfly peel off applied onto acetate and adhered to lid using silicon.

Box Tray:

Trim 2mm (1/8") from the TOP and ONE SIDE edge ONLY of the black square cardstock.
This will allow the tray to fit comfortably within the lid.
Score all four edges using groove 1.
Cut corners and assemble as per board instructions.
