Pleat Card Design We have been delighted to see the creative talent of many retailers demonstrating our M & F Board at shows across the country. They have done our board proud - Thank You. One such demonstrator and dear friend, "Glitter Queen" Kathy Mills, kindly shared with us her 'pleat' card design. It is an extremely versatile card that can stand alone, or as shown, can be mounted onto a half folded A4 card. As these instructions are not included with the M & F Board we are passing them on via our website. You will need: *A sheet of A4 Vintage Metallic Ice Gold cardstock *Extra piece of same card for centre panel *Strip of matching paper *A sheet A4 Starlight Pastels Lavender cardstock *Oval Frame punch *Sunburst border punch *Anna Griffin Butterfly punch *5 paper roses *2 silk ivy leaves *Silicone glue *Double sided tape *Narrow ribbon bow *Fine gold border peel offs *Small piece mirror gold cardstock *Sentiment card or peel off *Sticky foam pads To make: *Cut A4 lavender cardstock down to 21 cms x 21 cms. |
|
|
* Place one edge up to the M & F butt bar and score lines 2 and 3. Rotate the card completely to place the opposite edge to the butt bar and score lines 2 and 3. Valley-fold lines 2 and mountain-fold lines 3 to create a 'box-pleat' shape. *Cut a piece of Ice Gold cardstock to fit centre panel. Punch out an aperture centrally at one end using the oval frame punch. Adhere this panel to centre panel of lilac pleat using double sided tape. Add fine border peel offs to both sides of the panel. *Cut 2 strips of paper 2½ cms x 21 cms. Centralise border punch and punch both strips along one edge. Adhere a strip along the edge of each side panel, having the 'lacy' edge facing out. Add a border peel off along the straight edge of the punched strip. *Cut a piece of gold mirror card 3 cms x 3½ cms and glue 2 cms from bottom of centre panel. Mount a sentiment card (or small piece of Ice Gold cardstock with peel off sentiment) onto lavender card, leaving a narrow border showing. Decorate with fine border peel off. Mount on top of gold mirror card using sticky foam pads. *Apply silicone glue to the lower left of oval frame and create a small arrangement with the flowers and leaves. Glitter flowers. Glitter punched frame. Add bow. Leave to cure. *Punch 3 butterflies and adhere strategically. Glitter butterflies. *You could stop at this point as the card will stand alone. To mount: *Half fold A4 Ice Gold cardstock using line 6. Make feint pencil marks .75cm in from fold and opening edge as guides for aligning pleat card. *Apply 2 strips of double sided tape to the back of each side flap of lavender card. Attach to main card. Apply border peel off along joining edges. *Stamp up or computer generate an insert. Punch sides with border punch and attach. *Use line 1 to create a box. Also score line 2 to add embossed feature to lid. |

Tartan Card Design
Tartan Card Design - March 2005
Score a piece of A4 cardstock in half using line 6. Crease to produce "lead-in" edge, or butt both short edges to the bar and flatten if you prefer your card edges to meet.
Working on the reverse of the card front score a series of lines horizontally and vertically to produce 'tartan' effect.
For the card shown: Place folded edge to butt bar and score line 1, move card to right and 'settle' this scored line into groove 5 and score line 4 to create two narrow lines.
Place fold to butt bar again and score line 2, move card to right and 'settle' scored line 2 into groove 4 and score line 5. You now have 2 sets of narrow tramlines.
Repeat process for front short edge.
To decorate remaining long and short edges: Line edge of card along groove 4 and score line 5. Move card left and 'settle' scored line into groove 4 and score line 5 to produce narrow tramlines.
Finish off with your favourite image and ribbon bow.
